When I graduated in the spring of 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, I had two options.
Option 1: Play it safe.
Climb the corporate marketing ladder for fair pay, little flexibility, and a slim chance that I will eventually be able to do what I truly love: Telling stories through digital media.
Option 2: Take a chance.
Take a huge risk, put together the marketing & media knowledge I know so far, and set out to create my own path in this world.
None of this happened overnight.
My leap of faith placed me all the way back at square one in the world: Working late nights stocking products in a retail store.
I spent ALL my free time learning how to become a better creator. Photography, videography, editing, you name it. My goal was to become the jack of all trades. With social media showing no signs of slowing down and thousands of talented people wanting to show their skills / business off to the world. I just knew it had to work out.
There are a lot of sacrifices, risks, and shortcomings to my journey. Just as much as any other entrepreneur/freelancer. However, once the gates opened and the opportunities began to pile up, I realized these opportunities could happen to anyone.
If someone was around to teach me about the mindset, goalsetting, and skillset that creators need to succeed back then, I may have got to where I am now faster - and less stressful - than I did.
So now while I continue to walk the path of wealth, freedom, and impact. I want to open the door for others to follow in my footsteps and do the same.
